PAVAN HENNA EVENT

Earlier on this week, I was lucky enough to go to a blogger event for Pavan Henna, held at Harvey Nichols! I have been a huge fan of this brand for a while now, having bought henna from Pavan’s henna bar in Selfridges before as well as lusting over the beautiful designs she posts on Instagram here. I have been a henna lover for a while now, I just think it is so beautiful! It is now a global trend which is not only used for weddings anymore, but for any occasion ranging from holidays to festivals.

It was such a pleasure to finally meet Pavan & her team. They were all so lovely, and I couldn’t believe that I was finally meeting the lady herself, the Guinness World Record Holder for the fastest henna. This beautiful design she did on me took less than 10 minutes – it was incredible! I find it so fascinating to watch. Henna is truly a form of art, the level of expertise and design that goes into it is insane.

The actual set-up of the event in the Beauty Lounge at Harvey Nicks was really lovely and beautifully set out. Perfect for some cheeky Instagram snaps! They were selling henna cones, including the glitter ones, henna tattoo transfers, diamantes and some gorgeous bindis too.

And here is my henna the following morning! The henna itself dries and cracks off, and you are left with this dark brown design where the henna has been. I am OBSESSED!

Thank you so much again to Pavan & her team for inviting me to this event. It was so fab, I love being around truly talented people who are doing really well for themselves and following their dreams! Be sure to check her out here!

BEAUTY BLENDER 101

SAM_1227.JPG

To all my gals (and guys!) out there that love to cake, bake and transform their face with the magic of make-up, the Beauty Blender is probably no stranger to you. If you have never used one, PLEASE make that your goal of the day, get one, use it, fall in love with it. The Beauty Blender has seriously changed the make-up game for me, and I honestly don’t think there’s a day that’s gone past since I owned mine that I haven’t used it! It’s a real love story, I know.

Onto what this blog post is really all about: cleaning your Beauty Blender. Due to the weird and wonderful texture of it, normal soap/water/etc does not seem to clean it, it requires a special cleanser which BB sell, in liquid and solid form. For years of using my BBs, I have had to stock up on these cleansers as there was no other method to cleaning them, but a few months ago the time came when enough was enough. The solid cleanser retails for £14 and the liquid is £15. Don’t get me wrong, people may think I’m crazy for spending almost £20 on a beauty sponge, but it’s worth it! It works, and I use it every single day, so it works out a pretty good deal for me. On the other hand, spending almost the same amount on essentially SOAP finally made me realise I was done. Like no thanks. I’m good.

SAM_1232.JPG

As I was about to purchase yet another BB cleanser online, before I checked out, I thought I’d just quickly google ‘Beauty Blender cleanser dupes‘ (because who doesn’t love a deal, right?) and sure enough, up pops a blog post by Dyno Pup Beauty which seriously SAVED ME! Thank you so much girl!

So here’s the thing, Johnson’s Baby Soap with honey is the EXACT dupe of BB cleansers. Like an even better cleanser though. And guess what the best part is? You can buy a 4 pack of these at Boots for £1.05. I’M SORRY, WHAT. So yes. Life: changed. Each 100g bar works out to be about 25p, whereas the BB cleanser is less than half the size of this, for a hell of a lot more. You do the math.

SAM_1242.JPG

So please please please, if you are a Beauty Blender lover like myself, grab yourself a bargain and start cleansing with this amazing stuff instead. Save the money you would spend on overpriced soap and put it towards a new BB instead (because for the record, the actual sponge is totally worth the money & there is nothing else like it around).

Have a great weekend💁

SWITCHING IT UP

Well hello, it has been a little while! If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I’ve been travelling in Croatia for business, which explains my lack of blogging. But it’s okay, I’m back today with an outfit post, something really simple for everyday wear, but can also be dressed up with some thigh boots for more of an evening look! I’m just loving denim shirts and mirrored sunglasses, what can I say? All links will be below, as always. Enjoy & have an amazing weekend 👑

MY FIRST BLOG AWARD: THE LIEBSTER AWARD

AWARD? BLOG? ME? NO. SURELY NOT?

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 10.00.50

My lovely little godsister Jemima from Trend It Plume chose myself and some other bloggers for The Liebster Award – if you’ve never heard of this before, let’s break it down. It’s basically an award given to bloggers by bloggers, specifically meant for people starting out to help them grow their audience and readership. I think this is such a cute idea, seeing as the whole blogging market is so saturated now, with so many millions of blogs out there to read, it’s hard to feel like you get noticed sometimes! Anyway, I was super excited to receive this from Jemima, not only is her blog AMAZING (like seriously, check it out), it’s so cool that people are supporting each other and doing what they love (#girlbosses, right?) but I still find it so surreal that people still even read my blog.

Also, there’s a set of rules that must be followed!

  1. You must mention and thank the blogger who nominated you for this award
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger created in their awards post
  3. Then you get to nominate some new bloggers that you feel deserve it
  4. Lastly, you create 11 new questions for your nominees to answer

Since Q & A’s are super fun, let’s do this..

How did you pick your blog name?

Simple really – the same as my Instagram name. My middle name is Gemma and since I was little, my dad has called me Gemstones!

What is your best blogging tip?

I would have to say blogging about things that you love. Writing about things I love comes so naturally to me, which you will probably know if you read my blog (CHATTERBOX, lol) but when I am truly passionate about something, I think it really comes through in my writing! So that’s my tip: blog about things that you like, that interest YOU, and it will come as a breeze.

What have you found challenging about blogging?

I would have to say the time! Not that I ever thought blogging was ‘easy’ but the actual time it takes to carry out a whole blog post from start to finish, really surprised me when I first started out. Anything from shooting the photos, uploading the photos, writing the post, promoting it on social media, etc etc etc, takes a whole lot longer than you would imagine!

If you could have a never-ending supply of clothes from one store, what store would you choose?

Omg this is so hard. Send help. I can’t even choose? I’m gonna have to say somewhere like Brandy Melville? Or Missguided? Does that count as a store? Guaranteed, either of these two places I will always have a endless wishlist for. UGH I LOVE CLOTHES.

Who is your favourite blogger?

Sarah from That Pommie Girl and Lauryn from The Skinny Confidential. I have been huge lovers of them for a long long time! Omg can I say Julia from Society Grl too? Keep slaying the game gals.

Do you have any secret talents?

Not that I know of?! I used to be able to put my fist in my mouth (Karen from Mean Girls much?) and my leg around my neck (throwback to my cheerleading days) but I haven’t tried either of these things for some time now.. probably best😂😂😂

Are you a cat or dog person?

Cats all the way! I love dogs too, but cats cats cats. Meow.

What top 4 artists would be at your dream music festival?

Justin Bieber, obvs. Then probably Drake, Lana Del Rey and Two Door Cinema Club. So random, but that pretty much sums up my music taste – die hard JB fan girl, rap 24/7, Lana obsession, then some indie/alternative/rock. LOVE!

Young Leo or Young Depp?

Young Leo 100%. All that comes to mind when I see young Depp is Edward Scissorhands – amazing film, but that face creeps me out (sorry not sorry)!

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

I would have to say holidaying for a living. As long as I could be with my family and friends, and come home whenever I wanted (lol). I love travelling and taking pictures, being in places that I love with people I love! #VACAY

Do you have a favourite quote?

SO MANY QUOTES. Seriously just like check my Instagram here and that’s pretty much where I post all of my favourite quotes. Not just like ‘oh I found this quote today, how funny’ but ones that I read all the time and try to live by.

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 10.03.12

Aw, that was so fun! Now it’s time to nominate a few of you..

Abigail from Little Beauty Blog xo

Liv from Liv Hewison

Lucy from In The Life Of Lucy Rose

Here are my questions:

  1. What social media platform do you spend the most time on?
  2. Nate or Chuck?
  3. If you could spend the day as a different person, who would it be?
  4. What is your favourite season?
  5. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  6. Favourite lip colour?
  7. What drink do you order at Starbucks?
  8. What is your favourite accent?
  9. What has blogging taught you?
  10. What is your favourite Disney film?
  11. If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?

Enjoy! XXX

DRESSING TABLE VIBES

So let’s talk about organisation. When I get a chance, I love tidying, and if something is messy it kinda makes me nervous looking at it (lol) BUT, with that being said, I hardly ever tidy. Whether it’s with my room, my dressing table, anything, I will literally never tidy it until I get a chance or it’s no longer usable because there is so much JUNK, hahaha.

I’m one of those people who will spend ages tidying my room, putting all my make-up away, hanging all my clothes up, then BAM, I’m getting ready to go out the next day, rushing out the door (I hate rushing ugh) with no time to be clean or tidy up the room that I just tidied not even 12 hours ago, and we’re back to square one again – clothes everywhere, make-up everywhere, no, just no.

So let’s focus on the make-up area today, and how to get your dressing table/make-up/getting ready/glam area from looking ugh to absolutely Tumblr. Am I the only one who does their make-up much nicer (more time, more effort, etc) when their dressing table is tidy? Just me?

I am about to share with you a very disturbing ‘BEFORE’ image, if you are easily offended by make-up mess please click away immediately…

IMG_8943.JPG

This hurts my eyes

Omg. The horror. I actually feel so ashamed that I just shared that ONLINE. This is about to change, I swear. FORGIVE ME😂😂

1 – Clear the JUNK (aka, dirty tissues, little cotton swab things, all of that gross make-up congested stuff)

2 – This little dressing table makeover actually helped me to clear out my make-up – so get rid of old products! If they’ve sat there for far too long, you’ve never used them, they’re not really your colour, either chuck them away or pass them onto friends or family who may enjoy them more than you do!

IMG_8945.jpg

Swatching lip colours, half of which I have never even worn OOPS

3 – Put products back where they belong – I had so many things on my dressing table that did not even belong there, making it look 10x more cluttered! Make sure all of your hair products are out of the way (at least for me anyway, I like to keep mine separate) – this includes hairsprays and general hair products, hair bands, clips, brushes. Like seriously.

4 – Once everything is cleared off of the tabletop, CLEAN IT.

5 – Here it comes, what you’ve all been waiting for.. CLEAN YO BRUSHES. Probably the biggest chore for all us make-up lovers out there, but it’s so worth it in the end, I don’t feel gross about using dirty brushes on my skin and the make-up itself applies SO much nicer. Everytime I clean my brushes, I wish I did it more often. I use baby shampoo & my Sigma brush cleaning glove, I will link both down below! Baby shampoo is super gentle on your brushes too. The glove is so cool, it has a special wash, refine and rinse sections to deep clean your brushes and it’s super easy to use. They discontinued the one I use with only one thumb and have brought out a new one with two thumbs, but apart from that it’s exactly the same thing. It also has one side of the glove for face brushes and the other side for eyes, so the texture is a little different for smaller, more delicate brushes. Make sure you reshape your brushes and lay them horizontal and flat when they are drying off, so the water doesn’t get down into the bristles and loosens the glue that holds the handle in place!

IMG_8964.jpg

Brush cleaning time!

6 – Put all of your daily make-up into one bag/section. For me personally, I use my dressing table to store all of my make-up, then I have my Ted Baker make-up bag, which will be linked down below, to store all of my day to day make-up. This allows me to access the make-up I use every morning easily, in one bag, as well as keeping the drawers organised with the rest of my products.

IMG_8983.JPG

YAY the finished product

Yay! Such an improvement. I store all of my lip products in these two large pink containers (link bel0w) on either side of my dressing table, and then I have a smaller version to keep my brushes in (does anyone remember these IKEA containers that are meant to be ‘plant pots’ that every Instagrammer was obsessed with?!). I use my Victorias Secret tray to store my MAC palette (which I’m in the process of filling up), my Tartelette palette, a selection of my YSL and MAC lipsticks, The Body Shop ‘The Sparkler’ (A really cute all-over shimmer kinda thing, I never really use it but it’s so cute for decoration) and my headbands, of course. I can’t do my make-up without a headband, I have so much hair and it gets everywhere if I don’t put one on! These two are my personal favourites – a black flower crown, which I think was from Topshop? Maybe? Like Summer 2012 when the flower crown trend was real, and rose gold glitter cat ears, ugh they are so cute, I can’t even. I love rose gold, and glitter, and cats, obvs, so how could I not?

Congrats if you’ve made it to the end of this blog post, some hardcore make-up organisation happened here but I feel so much better for it! TRY IT💁 All links are below..

Just a little outfit post today – I love going for that effortless/chic kind of look, these outfits are super casual and easy to wear on a daily basis. I feel like I’m one of those girls who is either in trainers OR heels, there’s no in-between, you know?👟👠 I’ve loved wearing these grey jeans with my white Superstars, which you would have seen in my last post here I just feel like they compliment each other really well – add a white tee (preferably with a slogan, who doesn’t love a slogan tee?) and a leather jacket, and you’re good to go. P.S. Let’s all just ignore the crazy hair that’s going on – the wind was INTENSE😂
