SMOOTHIE QUEEN

Today I’m going to be sharing a few of my favourite smoothie recipes – I am obsessed. I find it really hard to drink water alone and I’m not a huge fan of vegetables, so smoothies are a great way for me personally to have my five a day, as well as throwing in a few vegetables because the fruit covers up the taste so well! They also help to keep me hydrated as I find them so easy to drink.

THE DETOXIFIER

What you’ll need:

  • 1 cup of frozen berries
  • 1 cup of frozen mango
  • 1 cup of fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1  cup of kale
  • 1/2 squeezed lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger

Blend it all together and it should end up looking something like this…

I love drinking out of jars, they are so cute and I think it looks adorable to add a little accent – like the strawberry on this one! I also always use stripy straws, I love them. As the name suggests, this smoothie is perfect for detoxing as it clears your body out of all the toxins and improves your digestion and circulation. It also really helps to reduce inflammation and bloating – I hate feeling bloated, ugh! Depending on your preferred thickness of the smoothie, add as much water as you feel like (adding no water will make it thicker like a milkshake consistency whereas if you add a lot of water, it will obviously be more like a juice).

THE SKIN SAVIOUR

What you’ll need:

  • 1 avocado
  • 100g of greek yoghurt
  • 1 cup of frozen pineapple
  • 5 slices of cucumber
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds soaked in 1 cup of coconut milk overnight

Now whizz it all up in the blender and it should look like this…

Of course, I’m drinking it in my favourite cup with my favourite straw, and added some mint leaves on top! This is such a creamy smoothie, and despite being a tiny bit green when you pour it out (I KNOW, I KNOW – DON’T FREAK OUT) it actually tastes really good! I’m pretty sure I hit a point in my life where I would not eat or drink anything green because I was literally scared of vegetables, but this tastes fab, I promise. The ingredients in it are a dream for your skin and should leave you with a clear, glowing complexion! Avocado is a healthy fat and should balance out your moisture levels and skin tone, as well as helping with redness and irritation.

TOP TIP: If you’re not using frozen fruit, add some ice to the blender so it mixes the ingredients together better, as well as making it cold and refreshing – nobody likes a warm smoothie…

THE BREAKFAST ON-THE-GO

What you’ll need:

  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1 cup of almond milk

Throw it all in the blender and it should look like this…

SO cute. I’ve added some hundreds and thousands on top to finish it off (kind of defeats the point of healthy smoothies by putting sprinkles on top, oops). As the name says, this is a great breakfast drink to take on-the-go when you sometimes might not feel like eating a full breakfast – this has all the right things in to set you up for the day as well as filling you up until lunchtime. This tastes so so so yummy and sweet because of the strawberries and honey mostly, and it a great smoothie for eliminating toxins. Cocoa powder also has loads of anti-oxidants in that help to cleanse your body.

Smoothies are so much fun to make and I love drinking them, as well as experimenting with new flavours and ingredients. There are loads of recipes out there so follow some of those to get started and you’ll be creating your own concoctions in no time!

Hope you found this post helpful, have a fab week!
