NICELY NEUTRAL

Happy Friday👸

Just a little outfit post today – I love going for that effortless/chic kind of look, these outfits are super casual and easy to wear on a daily basis. I feel like I’m one of those girls who is either in trainers OR heels, there’s no in-between, you know?👟👠 I’ve loved wearing these grey jeans with my white Superstars, which you would have seen in my last post here I just feel like they compliment each other really well – add a white tee (preferably with a slogan, who doesn’t love a slogan tee?) and a leather jacket, and you’re good to go. P.S. Let’s all just ignore the crazy hair that’s going on – the wind was INTENSE😂

SUNDAZE

Sundaze: a Sunday state of mind, involving feelings of wellbeing, relaxation & happiness – what more could you ask for?💁 After recently being away, meeting new people and chatting about where you’ve travelled from, it has inspired me to travel more. And not only travel abroad more (which if you know me, you know I love it far too much anyway) but travelling into London more often too. When you tell people that London is pretty much your hometown, it’s so funny to see how fascinated they are, I guess in the same way I am if somebody were to tell me they lived in New York, for example – like, it must be so cool to be so close to all of your favourite shops/restaurants/amazing places 24/7, but I guess if you’re from there, you start to take it for granted. This has made me want to travel into the city more, not only to be thankful that I live so near to such a cool place, but to take advantage of all the places I can easily visit in London, which many other people around the world probably dream of going to! Long story short, it just seems silly to live so close to one of the best cities in the world and hardly ever go there. So, I’ve made it a point to start going there more often, maybe just for lunch, some shopping, maybe even for a weekend – especially being up there on a sunny day like today, I just love it! Of course, I went photo crazy.. enjoy 🇬🇧

FACING 2016

Hello hello! Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2016 is treating you well so far 👸 I am super excited for the year ahead! I thought I’d start off with a make-up post, basically just letting you know what I put on my face every day…excluding the eyes and the lips and all that fun stuff, because of course, there’s a whole load of other products for that 😉

SAM_0940.JPG

ALWAYS start with primer, for me, that is a must. Having oily/combination skin, I find that skipping this step just results in all make-up sort of melting off my face throughout the day – not cute. This Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing primer (the purple one) is seriously a lifesaver. I think this is the 5th one I have purchased (I wish I was joking) and it really smoothes everything out and creates a poreless, matte base for you to begin your make-up on.

Then, I use 1/2 pumps of my Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum gel foundation in shade 53 light beige onto the back of my hand, dot it all over my face, then roughly blend with the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush. This foundation is great because it gives me the right amount of glow (YOU KNOW I LOVE THAT GLOW) without actually looking oily – love. I’ve been loving the Sculpting Brush lately too, I assume its meant for contouring/highlighting/SCULPTING things (as the name would suggest) but who even uses brushes where they’re meant to be used in the first place anyway? Not me 🙋 I then bounce over my whole face with my beloved Beauty Blender, aka, my life. If you don’t own one of these little beauties, please go and buy yourself one now and there will be no regrets, I promise!

Next, I go in with MAC Pro Longwear concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes, then blend it out with my Beauty Blender – such a perfect little combo. I switch between two shades – I love NW20 for all over coverage and just in general, but NW15 is good for highlighting and brightening up. I keep repurchasing this concealer, I just love it…which reminds me, I should probably stock up like immediately, if not sooner. It’s nearly all gone and I definitely get some sort of weird make-up anxiety if a holy grail product of mine is almost empty – just me, or?

Next, Benefit Watt’s Up highlighter. This product is seriously YUM. I like to apply it directly from the stick, then just use my Beauty Blender over the top – done. If you love glowy skin like I do, just apply it to the usual highlight places – cheekbones, chin, cupid’s bow, nose, brow bone… If you want to love it as much as I do,  you can read all about it my November Favourites post here.

Then, I set my face with the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Pressed Powder – LOVE THIS PRODUCT. It locks your foundation in place and gives a really smooth finish. It also has a yellow tinge to the powder, which helps to brighten up the skin really nicely. *TIP* Apply this powder with the ELF powder brush – a personal favourite of mine – it’s got a flat top so it is perfect for packing on the powder to set the rest of your make-up, without making it look cakey!

Last but not least on my face, I set my Benefit Watt’s Up highlighter with a powder highlighter – Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop. I’m not going to bore you with the gory details of my actual love affair with this product, but if you’ve been around on my blog for a while, you’ll know it was a favourite of mine back in September which you can read about here and is definitely still a favourite now! *TIP* Use any small highlight, or even fluffy eyeshadow brush, to apply this – I’ve been loving the Real Techniques Setting Brush lately – to get a precise application, then you can always blend it out slightly to diffuse the highlight if need be.

I hope you enjoyed reading about all the fun stuff I put on my face every morning, this set of products have been working wonders for me lately! Although, if you follow me on Instagram *check it out here* you would have seen that I posted a picture of some new goodies I picked up in Sephora when I was out of the country! I am in the process of trying all my new bits out, so if I have any new favourites I will be sure to share them on here.

*TIP* I’ve been set in my ways for so many years of how I do my make-up: face, eyes, then lips. Like what other way would you even do it right? But lately, I’ve been starting with my eyes – shadows, liner, mascara, lashes, brows – THEN moving onto my skin, and I’m actually really loving the results! If you haven’t tried this, give it a go. It’s a little weird to get used to but I think it’s a lot easier to do your make-up and you actually end up with a better end result, in my opinion!

Thanks for reading, links for everything mentioned will be below, and again, Happy New Year! I hope 2016 is just as sassy as you are 💁💅
